Our vision is to promote democratic principles, values and ideals in order to create a society with a shared sense of responsibility, opportunity and community.

To promote democratic practices that empower citizens, civil society organizations (CSOs), Community Based Organizations (CBOs), grassroots and people in general in order to achieve sustainable development. We seek to be the prime means and catalyst for strategic analysis and capacity building for sustainable democracy and development in East Africa. In order to accomplish this, CEDRED set out to create opportunities for alternative pathways that are universally relevant and context sensitive in sustainable democracy and development. The aim is to ensure stable, peaceful and cohesive society in which the principles of democracy are respected. The Centre remains focused on capacity building work, policy advocacy, and as a research reference point on good governance, democratic practice, and respect for human rights, protection of human security, people-centred development, gender equity and rights of minorities.
